Banner.’s dreamy indie folk made its mark in 2017 with the release of debut EP Over Blue. Already having garnered over 750,000 streams on Spotify alone, he’s now just released a range of fresh tracks. “+7 HRS” was released on August 3rd and showcases the new musical direction Banner. has taken to. It was the lead single of his new EP, which has just been released on January 25th through V2 Records.
Organic and lively songs interlaced with creative fingerpicking are the trademark of songwriter Banner. Ever since his first release Compass, he has been a vital part of many international Spotify playlists. It has resulted in an impressive list of shows, including the full support tour for Tame Impala drummer Julien Barbagallo across some of The Netherlands’ most respected venues.
At age twelve, Banner. picked up a guitar and never let it go again. He independently taught himself how to play, but his desire to delve deeper into the music grew naturally with the years. This led to his development as a musician, but also as a songwriter during his early adulthood. By writing atmospheric pieces of music that convey a deeper meaning within their universal message, Banner. has lifted indie folk to a new level.
The music is reminiscent of grand songwriters such as Nick Mulvey, Ben Howard, Fink and John Martyn. Live, Banner. and his band bring a highly dynamic stage presence, but he has been known to occasionally step on stage alone. Not shying away from vulnerability or intimacy, he strips the songs back to their essence. With over sixty shows played in 2017 throughout The Netherlands and Germany, including solo support slots for sold out shows by Newton Faulkner and Rhys Lewis, Banner. has grown into a well-respected songwriter who is now gearing up for international steps.
